CD-changers are not new technology.
mp3 inputs are becoming more common, but at a surprisingly slow pace. (You may not have heard of an mp3, but have you heard of an iPod?)
I just walked my mom (turned 70 today) through fixing her wifi network. She has no interest in mp3s, I don't think. I have burned CDs for her of things she wants to hear, though.
