i'm sure there's a million more reasons, but here's what i have off the top of my head...

the reasons below are mixed (pro and con all together)
-you don't like his name or you don't like yours
-you're established professionally under your maiden name
-you're too old to want to
-you're social circle does/does not do this
-you want your kids to have he same name as both their parents
-appeasing the groom (or his family)
-like the tradition of it
