Part of me wohders if they're just the first to suffer at the time when our idea of TV ends.

it used to be 4 networks and a few cable stations.

Now, we're at 4 networks and at least a dozen certifiably important cable stations that have sliced the pie thinner for everyone.

Networks are going to need to be able to make money in the margins of 5-7million viewers in a lot of cases as time moves forward. NBC's just there now.

I don't think it'll ever come back to pre-eminence in any meaningful format.
