With my family none of these things work.

I tell them what I want I'm told to order it and they'll pay me back. If I hint, they forget, when I go with them to pick out something, they go back and get the wrong thing. *sigh*
At least with the first option I get what I want even if I have to pay for it myself. (I don't always get paid back.)
