1) No one will ever remember it, but the Titans got buried for this pick during NFL Draft coverage. The perception was that Felix Jones and Rashard Mendenhall, who went the two picks prior to the Titans' selection, were the only remaining backs in the top tier. I will never forget Kim and I sitting at a Sonic drive-in listening to ESPN Radio going, "This is a senseless pick the franchise will regret for years to come." There is YouTube video floating around of Steve Young writing down in ink that the Titans were taking Devin Thomas, "The only pick that makes sense here." Kiper always thought he was too much of a dancer to be a productive NFL back. Amusingly, Johnson has become what Kiper swore Reggie Bush would be. Also, the immediate fan grade ESPN voters gave the pick was an F.
2) Can you imagine what the worst opponents on East Carolina's schedule looked like trying to tackle Chris Johnson? We're talking about fringe college football players trying to tackle a guy who makes All-Pro safeties looks ridiculous.
