No. Many are higher resolution. (Also, the 1080 is the number of horizontal lines)

We have a 32" LCD TV which is 1080p, and is also used as a computer monitor. It can be very difficult using certain programs that don't adjust well to that screen size.
It works great for streaming video (hulu, netflix, etc.) though.
