"Prilosec is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms"-This is one of the first sentences in the patient drug abstract I linked to below. You've been pretty stressed too, so you need something that works, NOW.
I'm on a bunch of meds now and I swear half of them mess up my stomach. Honestly, the best thing I've found (that doesn't interfere with the 20 other pills I have to take a day) is either extra strength Maalox chewables or liquid. Otc Tagamet or Zantac work well, too.
Sometime if you want a good read, look up the scandal with Prilosec, Prevacid, and Aciphex. It would be funny if it wasn't *US* the pharmaceutical companies and the FDA hadn't fucked over. Hope you get better.
