they are in this spot because, rather than read the writing on several walls they continued to business the old fashioned way. Everytime they were asked to make their cars more efficient, cleaner, safer they said, "Oh that's going to take us ten,twelve, twenty years to do." In the meantime the Japanese did whatever in three. And still despite this kept insisting on doing things their way, when it was becoming increasingly obvious that their way was outdated and they had already fallen far behind.
