Are we pretty much in agreement that the "here's what happened" is something along the lines of: Craig T Nelson's judge killed the midwife and Trudy knew why (presumably he knocked somebody up, maybe even Trudy, and the midwife delivered the baby) thus he killed her too. Then when he was appointed to the state supreme court he decided he had to go back and clean up the paperwork mess at the doctor's office and that led to the killing of Begley Jr?
