Honest to god, Yankee fans who complain about the Swisher trade should get their fan card revoked.

This was manna from heaven for the Yanks.

If you couldn't tell, I'm *loving* that we're talking about baseball.

He's useless, he's just a backup. They Yanks don't need him.

Swisher isn't a superstar. But worst case, he's still better than what the Yanks gave up to get him.

I can agree that they didn't have to give up much to get him.

It's the start of the offseason, there is *tons* of time to "fill needs". Acquiring talent doesn't stop that at all.

He takes a spot on the team that I'd rather see filled by someone else. I don't like what he brings to the team.

Who's gonna produce better for the Yanks in the OF?

Mediocre to below average is nothing to get excited over. Period. -- nm

That's what the Yanks had before acquiring Swisher, now they at least have league average.

They now have a guy who hit .219 last year - it'll be neat if he can make a significant contribution. atm it doesn't seem impressive at all. -- nm

I'll bet you anything you want that he'll improve on him 2008 numbers.

He doesn't make them a better team. He could have stayed w/the Sox as far as I'm concerned. -- nm

It's hard to call anyone who just got done hitting his weight a steal for the other team; especially since it limits the options on much better player

You think Cashman can't trade away an OF if they want to sign Tex?

In 2006 and 2007, over nearly 1300 plate appearances his line was approximately .260/.375/.475 that's the best 6th OF ever to play. (nm)

Melky's gone, Matsui can't play the outfield anymore is likely a DH next year. The kid Gardner is the CF and Girardi likes him a lot.

Swisher won't be the everyday CF, he'd be a corner, playing CF in a pinch if needed.

they'll sign anyone who has a name - heck they gave millions to Canseco to ride the bench, and they didn't even want him -- nm
