I think you need to buy an xbox 360 for 2 reasons.

1. I think YOU'D have a hell of a lot of fun. There are hundreds of games out there for every taste. Plus, your grandkids would love it. If they have one too and are on xbox live, you can talk to them (in real time) or text them with it too.
2. You're about to retire. A buttload of studies have come out that have shown that retirees who play video games tend to have better retention in both short and long term memories. Playing also increases your fine motor skills.
3. I lied, sue me. You could get into the regular games with the people here. Plus, if your computer at home has Media Center, you can show videos from your computer through your xbox right to your tv. You can also store your music collection and play it through the surround sound speakers you get with your big tv. Best of all, you could get rock band, and basically sing Karaoke anytime you wanted to with nobody watching. :)
