Security: Microsoft Security Essentials
DVD Burning: DVD Flick - http://www.dvdflick.net/download.php
Video conversion: Avidemux
Photo management: Windows Live Photo Gallery
DVD Ripping/conversion: Currently WinX DVD Platinum (downloaded free on free day earlier this year) but DVDFab is good also
Office/documents: Currently in the Office 2010 Starter trial program but normally Google Docs
Music: iTunes for some but mostly WMP
I did spend money on Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 for image editing beyond what I do with Canon's DPP
