There have been 3 major studies done (in Canda, China, and Australia). Women were followed for 10 years. Results showed no gain, but harm.

The harm is from not needed procedures.
I don't have the source for those studies. The prof just told us about them.
But from wiki:
BSE was once promoted heavily as a means of finding cancer at a more curable stage, but large randomized controlled studies found that it was not effective in preventing death, and actually caused harm through needless biopsies and surgery.
