to be totally cappy....I had a horrible horrible childhood dentist...a guy that would put his hand on your forehead while he removed my retainer and

the cleanings were painful so for the longest time I was DEATHLY afraid of the dentist
and while I am very good at caring for them floos and brush I went 4 years without seeing one. Turns out 2 fillings had fallen out over that 4years and those empty fillings lead to deeper cavities hence rootcanals....
was miserable. And before I gave up all carbonated drinks I used to drink a ton of pepsi which I know didnt help
Thank god I had unlimited dental insurance as the crowns alone were 1500 before insurance 450 each after - but the good side effect was I am no NO LONG scared of the dentist :)
