The bit about "simply because you can't predict today what/how/where your life will be in 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 years" is jarring to me.

When a lawyer gets his law license revoked for shady behavior, do you chalk that up to simply having been unable to predict where his career would be in a few years?

When you take a marriage vow (or whatever you do after you pass the bar), you're promising to act (not feel) a certain way from then on.
