Eh - while I think they maybe don't have to push this farther than they have - if she knew cameras couldn't be brought into the theater and she did

any way, I don't blame them for doing *something*.
"But I wasn't using it to record a movie!" doesn't really fly when you know you shouldn't have that camera in there any way. Theaters don't want to take that chance.
When I'd go to movie screenings, the passes all indicated there were to be no recording devices (including camera phones) allowed at all - they'd be confiscated if found during the scan with that wand they used or during the frisking. One had the option of putting the phone in the car if it was found.
If I managed to get a camera/phone in there knowing that I shouldn't be doing that, I would have understood in the long run why my phone was confiscated. "But I wasn't going to do anything with it!" isn't a valid excuse when I knew they were not allowed.
Besides - why on earth would someone be taking videos of movie-goer friends in the theater after the lights had gone down? That's douchey. Singing happy birthday during the movie/previews? Yeah, shut the hell up so I can watch what I just paid $10+ to see.
