You're the leader. You set the tone. This is your chance to turn it around.

I'm totally on the other side. When HOA owners understand their responsibilities and their rights, and participate ... instead of just kvetching about it all, then the community has an opportunity to become a real, authentic community.

Otherwise, it's just a bunch of resistors.

And that's my experience.
