we should be retiring the old style in favour of LED lights, but I don't think anyone's really hammering too hard on them

I mean, they do increase energy usage, but unless you're like that Trans Siberian Orchestra synchronization guy, you're probably not having much of an impact.
Which is not to mention that people are not likely to get anywhere in the energy efficiency movement by harping on people not to do things that they simply won't give up on.
