that's actually one of the things that drives me mad about this country. 80% of power generation is coal, and everyone totally flips out if nuclear

Chernobyl has more to do with that IMO. (And he's talking about a different country - Australia has one reactor that is uses for scientific purposes

Coal is cheap and abundant. People aren't used to nuclear power, so they don't understand it.
