the 'story' is important, but so subjective - and my underlying point is that all NFL fans watch the game. that number might grow marginally

but NFL fans is a capped number. what makes the Super Bowl the number 1 show nearly every year are the millions and millions of people who barely know what a first down is, but watch it because its a reason to throw or go to a party during a cold winter stretch when the next holiday of significance is 3 months away still.
those people don't care about stories or dynasties. they care about names they recognize from other sources.
