some years ago, bigtime torrential rain at night driving home from stanford. almost zero visibility, slippy highway, cars spinning-out. ugh.

when I got home, I called my mom who lived in a different city to make sure she got home ok; and we were both doing that near-hysterical laugh thing. it was *so* scary.
(my stepfather had heart surgery that day, so it was an extra thing on top of that stress.)
