This conversation is making me feel like a cold, heartless individual.

She is so devastated, she can't *believe* this is happening, etc.

I want to say to her, yes, it is very sad, but - our grandfather is *97* years old. He's been pretty much incapacitated for years. Is it really a surprise that a 97 yr old is close to death? I mean, I'm sad that my grandfather will die soon, but...he hasn't had a very good quality of life for a very long time.
