Oh hell, I just watched the season finale of Dexter and I'm still shocked (SPOILS) Bery, talk to me when you've seen it. :)

Oh Darla, we hardly knew ye. Anybody but you, why you? Rita was the sweetest, sexiest most adorable character ever.
Ok, so it looks like John Lithgow (Arthur) killed Rita, but who knew to put the baby in a puddle of blood, just like Dexter was placed when his mother was killed. I think he is a total red herring. Hrmm, Clearly it wasn't Deb. Besides she was busy with the raid at the time Rita would have been killed. Maybe Quinn? There's been something wrong with him since day 1. We also know he's been researching Deb, so....? Possibly it could have been Dex's father's other C.I., but I don't think so. It could quite possibly be the chief of police, who just happened to be the only person (besides Dex) who knew of his true origin. Deb verified it with him and then he just disappeared.
Regardless of who actually did it, I have a bad feeling that Dexter is going to be held responsible. He had an alibi except for the couple of hours it took to kill Arthur, cut him up, and drop the weighted bags in the ocean. Poor Dexter.
