The reason I was thinking of doing it is that Charles has been as good or better lately.

For whatever reason, the Chiefs were looking for reasons not to play him. Starting at the game where the coach said Kolby Smith would start, Charles has had 17, 12, 18, and 9 points (without rounding up) before yesterday. MJD has had 20, 14, 11, and 8. So it was close, with MJD usually having a 1-2 point advantage. That coupled with Charles going against the worst run defense in the league indicated that Charles was the smart play.

Plus, I was slightly concerned about MJD's knee.

But, like you said, I stuck with the "don't bench your stud" rule.
