I have access to all comms that use our servers, and from a legal standpoint it's in the companies best interest to have that. That said

I don't interfere with say their Gmail. But if they send it from a company address, or receive it on one, they have no rights.
I also keep a log of web site's visited. Again from a legal standpoint to protect the company, weed out non workers. And to have a record in case someone is accused of sexual harassment using the workstation.
That is harsh, but I live in an industry highly sensitive to disclosure.
