For those of you with kids and without wills, I'd highly recommend

putting something in place that makes clear who you want caring for your kids in the event of something tragic.

Figuring out who *you* want raising your kids may be difficult, but letting a court figure it out or having family fight over it is a poor substitute for your judgment.

It was a tough decision for us because there are issues with my wife's family making them unacceptable and my brother isn't acceptable to us either. We ended up choosing my Mom and her husband, but revisit that decision with them every year to make sure they still feel comfortable with it.
