...and are sucking up to me a lot. Their problem is that when I left home at 17 and struck out on my own I got no support or encouragement from any member of my family, and my will specifically reflects that.
I prefer to help people while I'm still alive. I paid for a cousin's tuition for her junior year at UF but she flunked out. I kinda view blood as an accident of birth anyway, and I have no problem helping a friend over a relative.
I made it through school because strangers helped me out with school, jobs, even a car when I was young. They don't really need help now, but I've let them know to contact me if they do. Renting my spare room out cheap to a college student is one way of paying back my karmic debt.
