The other line of thinking might argue that if it's a paying event, why not auction the tickets to help pay down the national debt?

Why not charge people to use National Parks and Smithsonian museums?
Responses:
I believe plenty of National Parks do charge admission. I certainly throw a few bucks in the 'suggested donation' box at the Smithsonian. -- nm
