Monkey Fucking LA Traffic

So last Thursday, I did my husband duties and went as the plus one on Veronicas invite to the Milk premiere in Beverly Hills. The movie is fantastic from the acting performances to the costumes, to Gus Van Sants moviemaking which does a great job of blending historical footage into the movie.

However it took us forever to get to the theater from our starting point in the OC. Something on the order of 2 and a half hours plus as we kept getting stuck in traffic caused by various accidents.

For the last hour or so of the ever more frantic drive, Veronica is texting her contact at the premiere assuring him that we are on our way and please dont give away our tickets.

Start time is seven and at five till seven we were just coming through the 405 / 10 interchange on our way to exit at Wilshire as the premiere is at the Academy screening room which is on Wilshire in Beverly Hills (Maybe just past Beverly Hills?)

Anyway we finally get generally in the area and we know enough to not even attempt the parking garages as they are undoubtedly full, find street parking and do this race walk thing to the theater as much as our dress shoes will allow.

We get there and they are rolling up the red carpet and taking down the velvet ropes. Get to will call table and while they have given away our original tickets, they give us to semi-random single tickets. We gladly take the tickets and rush into the theater where we luckily find a couple of seats together in the back of the theater and watch the film which had already started.

Great movie, decent after party.

But thats not the point of this post.

My co-worker was kind enough / cruel enough to send me this link. I never saw that back drop and dammit I know enough to go out to smoking areas but I had no idea.

Fucking traffic.

Oh, I met Emile Hirsch and after a couple of drinks got up the nerve to tell him that he was great in the movie but the movie of his that I really liked was Speed Racer
