In some scenes the 3D was very effective, but mostly I thought it just looked like different layers of 2D.

The story wasn't as weak as I'd feared it might be. Decent enough.

Based on this, I wouldn't pay extra to see a "live action" movie in 3D in the future. Though based on the previews for Shrek 4, I thought it looked great in animated form.
