I think it says a little of both. I think it says the script moved him enough to come out and do the role one more time....

and to pass it off to a new generation of actors to play the The Original Series.
If Abrhams fucks this up I'll be first in line to red shirt him.
I hope that's not the case. I hope we get a kickass Trek movie that we, as Trek fans deserve. I hope we get a new Trek movie that reignites the flame so that new fans come along and can enjoy Star Trek.
See, people bring up the travesty of the 3 Star Wars prequels, and no doubt they were bad. But you can't tell me those same people were not super excited to see the first one.
I say let's wait and see what Abrhams does with the film before saying it sucks.
