I hope it doesn't suck. But Abrams was a Trek neophyte. You don't hand over the franchise to a know-nothing and get good results.

A Trek re-boot is fine, but give it to someone with love for Trek.

Or better yet, kiss Kirk, Picard, et al goodbye and bring on Enterprise B or C. Or bettter yet, jump even further into the future and have Enterprise F, G or H. Then you can get a new cast and stay within contunity without being limited by what comes next.
