add more lights anyway for a fuller look, the built-in wiring can get in the way of putting the extras deeper into the tree (tip: this makes your tree look so much better).
on the other hand they are way fast and easy to set up. Five minutes and you're done, just add decorations (or not). storage is easier and no untangling of wires.

and don't get the fibre optic ones. they look ugly, have already gone out of style, and probably have more problems with the wiring failing. -- nm
