I prefer that liquor sales not be in the hands of someone who is purely motivated by profit and is more likely to turn down intoxicated shoppers. plus

the LCBO is the largest alcohol buyer in the world and gets good discounts, which means more profit, which means less money that needs to be collected as taxes.
also, I have no problem with vice taxes since higher cost means lower consumption. IMO, booze causes a lot of problems.
