Fixed up on a blind date. They are going with friends to a social an hour and a half out of town and they drive together to talk and see if they hit it off. My buddy says things are going well, she seems to enjoy herself. Just before arriving at the social, they realize that her family is from an area where he has a few relatives and once he asks her name, they realize that they are distant distant cousins, but cousins nonetheless.

He finds it funny and jokes about it, but he says that she got extremely closed off and quiet and wasn't at all in good spirits the rest of the night.

My theory: She had already decided she would like to sleep with him prior to the discovery of the relations and it creeped her out.
