God I love CES. IMAX launches 3D TV channel in conjunction with Discovery and Sony.

Here's why 3D TV won't work as we currently understand it...

In order to watch anything on it, you have to sit down in front of your TV, don your special glasses, and enjoy. That's rarely how people casually watch TV.

I understand that this can work for movie rentals (be it on-demand or disc) or *ESPECIALLY* video games (this can be huge). But if you're in the kitchen and you're watching TV from across the room, no way, no how. You're not going to wear those glasses while you're cooking or doing the dishes. And then all you see is a blur.

Of course, 3M is working on a 3D TV that doesn't required glasses and they'll show that off at CES. We'll see how that goes.
