How do you win a mountain climb in competition?

there's a clearly defined winner in my mind for a sport. Baseball ends with more runs, football more points. Hockey more goals.
Gymnastics/skating/most of the x-games shit = select # of judges evaluating the performance ... not a sport. Athleticly demanding yes. Sport no.
