bike share programs, pedestrian malls, less parking space per unit zoning changes, increased budgets for public transport, etc etc.

More money for bike trails, some dedicated bike lanes being built into existing roadways (not much though), dedicated bus lanes being built.

there are some car-free villages in switzerland (zermatt, m�rren,..). other stuff not much

there are rentable bikes nearby, but I think that's intended for tourists, and I've never seen them used in 2 years. -- nm

Chicago's always had a number. Lots of bike lanes and bike paths. Also bike parking downtown with access to showers to change into work clothes.

Dublin has a thing where you hop ona bike for a euro, travel around on it all day, and you leave it back at one of many drop off points.
