20 weeks is unrealistic, and I wonder about other issues that may present from a company that would mandate that.

that says to me that they expect (heck, want!) employees to come in when they're sick; and that they have no care about life issues that present for all of us. they may also be trying to weed-out people with children and/or those who care for parents.
no one should expect to be fired for missing an hour of work in 5 months.
