It's more than possible that your diabetes qualifies as a disability and any employer has to make a "reasonable" accommodation to ensure that you can do your job, even in training. Taking time off for an appointment that allows you to get the meds you need is a reasonable accommodation. And seeing that it is a health care company it would look bad if they didn't allow it. And possibly legally actionable.
