It's groundbreaking in the fact that Google is selling it "unlocked" and not specifically tied to a carrier.

In that way, once they get it to the point where you can go in the order of (a) choose your phone then (b) choose your service provider, that will be a big change from today's (a) choose your carrier because (b) that carrier has the phone you want to choose. (Like with AT&T / iPhone.)

It would be like Motorola selling their phones then being able to go with any carrier who has the plan you want.

*shrug*

Too bad T-Mobile is the only one the Nexus works with currently (afaik).
