Phones are rarely exclusive to 1 carrier. Most lower-end models are available at many. The iPhone is exclusive in the US, but not everywhere

In Canada, it was exclusive at Rogers for 1 year, now it's available at other carriers. I think the deal was 3 years in the US, and it's about to expire. Apple is negociating with Verizon I believe, but the deal is not done yet
