That's what you call an out-of-context quote. -- nm

I listened to it. They were talking about donations, and he said "We've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax."

How is it out of context?

Worst, it was in a totally paranoid rant saying that using the whitehouse.gov website to find ways to give to haiti

umm, except for the fact that the links the whitehouse.gov site provides go directly to the Red Cross anyway. -- nm

Of course he's not talking about the actual page on the actual website, he's talking about the government inserting itself between people and charity. -- nm

so he's saying the government *shouldn't* use any means at its disposal to encourage people to donate to charities?

But they're not. They're leveraging a communications platform to helpfully direct people to an existing charity. -- nm

This was in regards to somebody apparently being pointed to whitehouse.gov in order to give. They could just as easily have been pointed to Redcross.org.

Dude, they are insinuating that the money will not go to Haiti, and that your name will end up on a list and people will call you for contributions -- nm

You realize he doesn't script 3 hours of show a day and isn't actually intimitely aware of the website right?

You hear what you want to hear. He specifically said "Would you trust the money's gonna go Haiti?"

To be fair, you suck at picking topics to argue about. 15 seconds of off the cuff dialog does not lend itself to intense analysis.

If only you had anything to support your interpretation other than your obvious general appreciation for the guy

Because he's specifically talking about being directed to Whitehouse.gov to give rather than giving straight to the Red Cross. -- nm

You're logic's a little faulty there. "we've already donated" does not equal "we shouldn't donate any more". -- nm

In what context does anyone ever say, "I already gave once" and not mean it as a "Do I really have to again?"

Well defend him then! Prove me wrong! So far you haven't done anything but say "It's out of context! It's unfair!"
