NWBR: I don't particularly agree with Morton on economic policy, but he's an extremely sharp and smart guy

He's done a really good job in Sustainable Resources pushing through some unpopular but necessary measures in the last few year (land use, water conservation, forest management, etc).

I think the knee jerk reaction would be that he was given this slot to keep him from jumping ship, but I don't think that was ever really a risk - he's far too much of a pragmatist.
