So ... some thoughts on Jay/Conan/Jeff

1) I wished from the moment it was announced that Jay's show would be an epic failure. However, I didn't want it to negatively affect Conan in any way.
2) I stayed up until 2AM watching late night TV last night. I haven't done that for *years*. I used to be a huge Letterman fan, way more so than a Leno fan (Leno was only good for Headlines, and failblog took that from him and ran with it), and I also used to watch Conan a lot. Both guys were on fire last night. :) But, since it got me to watch, I am really interested to see what it did for NBC's ratings.
3) Jay going back to the Tonight show = failure
4) Moving the tonight show to "tomorrow" = failure
5) Jeff Zucker = failure (except for uncancelling chuck. That's a win. But now he'll have to uncancel a hell of a lot to fill the 10PM slot.)
6) Logically speaking, the "give Jay a half hour, and keep Conan too" does make sense, but the fact of the matter is, Jay is *out*. They tried an experiment, and it failed; he has to find something else to do now. Letting him back in is a huge slap in the face to Conan - it's a declaration of war to even be considering it, and I hope that NBC loses that war (just like they've lost so many others of late).
The phrase "How the mighty have fallen" comes to mind, to describe NBC.
