Yeah, that's the comment I made to my buddies this morning: What's the "product" of a late night show? Comedy is better elsewhere......

People are more interested in celebrity gossip than anecdotes.

Came down to two things, both of diminishing quantity:

1) Likable Host (getting harder to keep viewers going five nights a week)

2) Tradition (Has gone to sleep with the Tonight Show for thirty years)

Without a product, they might as well run a Vajazzle infomercial in the slot.
