I hate that. Fire her for the right reasons. Don't demand her to run a mile in under 3 minutes and they claim she failed.

You're almost serving the world better if you help train her to improve her productivity.
But I guess this is kind of like the auto bailout: "If they're going to go out of business next year, why bail them out now?" :)
