Would you like to hear a story about how one of my wife's new coworkers quit his job?

So, we were in Springfield through earlier today and to get a feel for the station that Mrs. TWuG will be working at, we put it on while we got to know the town.
This morning on the way to breakfast we are listening to the station and the break starts and the full timer that Mrs. TWuG will be working with comes on the air.
Now she has met the guy and knows that he is bi-polar and has an anxiety disorder that doesn't make him very good around people, so as he starts into his break and she recognizes that it's odd, but maybe just the way he is.
Except it's more than that. Ever so much more than that.
He proceeds to quit live on the air. He talks about how the station has failed him and failed the listeners due to staff cuts and talks about how they haven't made accommodations for his illnesses under the ADA and talks about suing the station.
Mrs. TWuG is, of course, stunned. She immediately calls the program director (her new boss) to let her know what she just heard, thinking with the holiday no-one is at the station other than air staff. She gets voice mail and leaves a message about what she heard.
Now, you may think this story can't get any stranger. You would be wrong.
It seems that he was NOT broadcasting live. You see, on Friday his bosses sat him down and told him he had to pull his shit together. He's a recovering alcoholic and he'd fallen off the wagon and it was affecting his work.
This did not go over well. He apparently recorded his "take this job and shove it" speech and disguised it in the computer as an advertisement and scheduled it to play Monday morning. He then proceeded to go off the rails. He started texting his boss with threats of harming himself and others. So they called the cops and he was taken to the hospital and put on a psych hold. He's still there.
Through all of this the PD is in contact with his family letting them know what has happened. Until his message played today they had been trying to figure ways they could still use him on-air while he got himself pulled together.
It was quite the shocker hearing someone quit their job on-air like that. Funny even. Until you hear the backstory. Pretty much everyone at the station feels horrible for the guy.

Just a note of clarification: PD = program director (his boss), not Police Department.
