Making them fly coach might make you feel better but I think its reasonable that CEOs of corporations this size needs more flexible travel

Actually, I've been seeing the opposite. The same people that want to deregulate all business and let corporations grow massive ....

They need flexible travel why? Because the big three are stuck in the twentieth century

Cuz the workers there are making a killing doing their jobs.

But is it not also wasteful to have the CEO stuck in some podunk town waiting for some stupid airline to release tickets?

Detroit? "podunk"? It cost $20,000 for the GM exec to fly from Detroit to DC...coach fare at the same time $300

What with today's telecommuting ability, I'd think that the need for business travel for non-hands-on work is relatively low.

And as a CEO...there isn't much "hands on" work. -- nm

Noone said it has no value. Noone here at least. Just that those goals can still be accomplished through commercial travel.

If I were a stockholder, I would want my CEO to visit all the factories and some showrooms every year.

So would I, but I'd also not want him to not be wasteful.

... and would you want him to do that at an expensive of $20,000 per trip, just for the flight? -- nm

The corporate jet also means they don't have to schedule their day to the airlines. And if something changes, the jet is still there. -- nm

You think a CEO won't be able to buy a ticket? Even if it costs and extra couple hundred to change a ticket it's still an order of magnitude cheaper.
