I would expect the "icebergs" to sink not float. *water* bergs float because h20 has the very odd and rare property of expanding when it freezes

nearly everything else contracts as it gets colder.
the expansion makes it less dense (therefore more buoyant) than it's liquid state.
without this strange property all the cold water fish in fresh water lakes would die out from the lakes freezing solid instead of just crusting.
